Spitting Caves? Nope, China Walls!

There’s a really nice place in Hawaii called “Spitting Caves”. This is part of the section of the island of Oahu where millions of years ago, part of the island broke apart and fell into the sea. You can easily tell by the high cliffs that go straight into the ocean, where the water is a dark blue because it is so deep. Because of this interesting quality, you can sometimes be lucky and see a whale up close. The ocean is deep, so the whales sometimes venture close to the cliffs in search of food. All along this coastline, there are many scenic points, such as Makapuu point (the Makapuu lighthouse hike is fun), Hanauma Bay, and the place I recently visited, China Walls. China Walls is popular amongst locals because it seems private (barely any tourists, and barely any people even), and you can dive into the ocean from the edge. This is dangerous of course, as you can see by the warning posts. But people are still drawn to diving there anyway. My personal favorite is “Spitting Caves”, but we got lost on the way and ended up at “China Walls” – which is not bad, but not my favorite. The sunset that day was beautiful, so it made up for my loss. Next time, I’m bringing along a map! ハワイの島の東がわはワイキキと違って崖が多いんです。むかし、むかし、オアフ島の東がわが、海の中へ落ちてしまいました。そこの海はとても深くて、鯨もよく近くまで来ます。ハナウマ・ベイー、マカプウ・ポイント、とかたくさんハワイの人気スポットがありますけど、私が一番好きな場所は 「スピッティング・ケイヴス」と言います。 スピッティング・ケイヴスに行きたかったんだけど、迷子になってしまって、ちがう場所、チャイナ・ウォールズにたどりついてしまいました。もちろん、チャイナ・ウォールズも良い場所だけどね。ほとんどローカルたちしか知らない場所で、ちょっと崖が危険な場所だけど、やっぱりとても美しいです。 サンセットが最高！ 次はぜったいにスピッティング・ケイヴスを見つけます！そして地図も忘れなく。       And a beautiful moon… とても美しい月。。  If you'd like to see more pictures, here's the site: もっとチャイナ・ウォールズの写真はこちら： http://flickr.com/photos/thegrailcastle/sets/72157604274931688/ Visit the site by cell phone too: ケイタイからでも見れます： http://m.flickr.com |
